About us

Koinos Community Development Initiative (KCDI) is a non-governmental organization based in Kaduna, Nigeria. Founded in 2022, KCDI is registered with the Nigeria Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC/No/185737).

OUR SERVICES

KCDI focuses on the following key areas

Mental Health:

Promoting awareness, education, and access to services to foster mental well-being among the youth and disadvantaged population.

Youth Empowerment:

Life skills, education, and economic empowerment programmes to support youth develop their talents.

Community Development:

Health, education, and economic initiatives to strengthen community resilience and environmental sustainability.

Policy Advocacy:

It is crucial to advocate at regional, national, and international levels of government and civil society to challenge and change unjust policies, structures and systems that keep people vulnerable and marginalized. Efforts are made to influence policy reforms and decisions that promote social justice, human rights, and gender equality. Research and policy analysis, stakeholders’ engagement (government, civil society, private sector), advocacy campaigns (media, events, petitions) and collaborating with influencers and champions of change.

Gender equality and inclusivity:

Organizing gender sensitive programmes with inclusivity, is number one priority of the KCDI. Thus creating an enabling platform where marginalized and disadvantaged gender had equal opportunity to strive in their communities irrespective of sex, religion or society status.

Policy Change Advocacy:

We advocate for policy changes that promote justice, equity, and human rights.

Media and Research:

We use media and research to raise awareness about social justice issues and promote evidence-based solutions.

Economic Empowerment for Young People:

We provide economic empowerment programs for young people, including skills training, entrepreneurship support, and access to finance.

Cultural Heritage Preservation:

We work to preserve and promote cultural heritage, including traditional practices, languages, and customs

Our work focuses on these thematic areas:

Marginalized and Underserved Communities:

We work with communities that are often overlooked, providing support and resources to help them thrive.

Gender Equity:

We promote gender equality and challenge discriminatory practices that perpetuate inequality.

Humanitarian Intervention:

We provide emergency assistance and support to vulnerable populations affected by conflict, disaster, or other crises.

Agriculture and Climate Change Mitigation:

We work to promote sustainable agriculture practices and support communities in adapting to the impacts of climate change.

Medical and Health Intervention:

We provide medical and health services to vulnerable populations, including those affected by conflict, disaster, or poverty.

Emergency Response:

In a humanitarian crisis, the most vulnerable and marginalized people are impacted the greatest and can have difficulty in accessing basic services. KCDI has preferred way of working in humanitarian interventions is through local partners or/and mobilize a Disaster Management Team (DMT) response.

Health:

Improve healthcare access and promote wellness through community-based initiatives.

Education:

Provide access to quality education for disadvantaged children and youth.

Economic Empowerment:

Finance and Support entrepreneurship and vocational training to enhance livelihoods through our microfinance scheme and economic empowerment loans.

Media/Research Centre:

This Institution covers a wide range of activities like shooting of Movies, Newspaper production, Television Station, Research work, Adaptation of written books into movies, interviews. The Department has the responsibility of organizing annual histocultural programs or events where ethnic groups from Southern Kaduna and the world at large would exhibit their different cultural heritage. The aim of this, is to promote the culture of the various ethnic groups. There shall be interviews conducted on people of good moral conduct and character, and also interviews about different ethnic groups around Southern Kaduna and beyond.
